It's back! If you missed your chance to participate in Beloved Conversations last year, we are bringing Dr. Mark Hicks back to our church. Beloved Conversations is an in depth exploration of culture, race and Unitarian Universalism. The retreat launches the experience August 12 & 13 and is followed up with 8 weekly small group meetings.

I have seen congregations trying to do intercultural work for a while. I've never seen a curriculum that deals with the intersection of race and our faith with such affirmation and reflection. We are very lucky to have both Beloved Conversations and Dialogues on Race available. The two combined offer us a view into our own understandings of race that very few in our nation get to experience

These Beloved Conversations are an opportunity to discover our own assumptions on race and ethnicity. They will allow us the opportunity to explore how racial identity impacts Unitarian Universalism and, ultimately, how to build the church our city deserves. I hope you will join me at this retreat. I am excited about what these conversations can mean for our congregation and, ultimately, the world.
