 Music Updates

Leah Hartman, Music Program Director

Trey Davis, Choral Director

February begins with the annual blues service on February 5. Our very own blues band will play some favorites, so come enjoy some red hot blues.

The choir returns on February 12 with a Festival Sanctus, an exciting anthem that uses the Latin text of the Sanctus part of a mass. As we draw closer to Mardi Gras at the end of the month, we'll hear some fun Mardi Gras music as well.

The church will also host a fundraiser concert for Ecuadorian Earthquake Relief, organized by church member Ginna Paredes on February 5, 5pm. Admission is free, but donations are encouraged and welcomed to help Ecuadorians who are still without potable water and who need construction materials to rebuild from the damage early in 2016. Member Ginna Paredes, harpist, and eleven other amazing musicians will delight us with their talents. Refreshments will be served at the end of their concert.

Join the New Orleans Gay Men's Chorus on Saturday, February 11th at 7:30 pm at UCBR for a night of love songs and poetry. Bring someone you love, someone you could love, or someone who needs love. Advance tickets are available for $18 and tickets at the door for $20.

Consider showing up for your church in the new-year. There are many ways to donate your time.

Would you like to help run the sound booth during Sunday services? We're looking for a few new sound techs. You'll receive training and help as you learn how the microphones work, and how to adjust the levels of the sound system. If you're interested or want more information, please contact Leah Hartman at music.office@unitarianchurchbr.com, or Allison Hall at office@unitarianchurch.com.

We also have openings for flowers this spring. If you have a special person or event to commemorate, consider donating flowers for Sunday services. To sign up, inquire at the Congregational Care table in the fellowship hall between services.
