The Interfaith Federation's Annual Community Prayer Breakfast will take place on Thursday, September 6, 7am, Boudreau's, 2647 Government Street. Each year the Prayer Breakfast brings together a capacity gathering of community members representing faith communities and community leaders. Attendees hear speakers who focus on issues that our community faces, following which attendees engage in "table dialogues" to discuss and propose ways to address those issues with the goal of making Baton Rouge a more peaceful place for all its citizens. Consider joining our always large number of UCBR attendees for this year's event. Tickets are $20 and can be obtained by emailing or from Becky Cureau after Sunday services through August 26.

The Interfaith Federation of Greater Baton Rouge was organized in 1987 as the Greater Baton Rouge Federation of Churches and Synagogues, and the name was later changed to be more inclusive of the diverse faith traditions represented in the Baton Rouge community. Each faith community is represented by delegates who attend two meetings each year to get updates and information related to the work of the Federation, in addition to the Annual Meeting in November to elect members of the board of directors. Our church is represented by Maida Owens, Donna Yelverton, and Becky Cureau, who currently serves as president of the Federation and presides over the board of directors' monthly meetings. In addition to the two major annual public events, Sounds of CommUNITY in the spring and the Community Prayer Breakfast in the Fall, a number of events are held throughout the year to which the public is invited. Check the bulletin board in the Coffee Room that adjoins the sanctuary for forthcoming activities and other information about the Interfaith Federation of Greater Baton Rouge.
