December is here, bringing with it the opportunity to have share even more beautiful music for our services.     On December 7, the choir sings David Lindenfeld’s arrangement of The First Nowell.   Rachael Blake and Michael Taylor, join Leah Hartman and Ila Stoltzfus for instrumental ensemble music.

The New Orleans Gay Men’s Chorus presents the Sounds of the Season on Saturday evening, December 13 at 7:30.  Tickets at the door are $20.  Advance tickets are $18, by calling 387-4281.

On December 14, the choir sings Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy’s Behold the Star of Jacob Shining.   A string ensemble from LSU will provide some additional festive music.

Our Solstice Service will feature Daniel Leonard and his singing bowls for a service of meditation and contemplation of this season.  This very unusual sound is said to calm and heal the restless spirit that many of us feel at this time of the year.

Our Christmas Eve service begins with a Prelude of string music.  The choir will again sing the beautiful Ave Maria by Franz Biebl.  This work has become a tradition for this service and congregants look forward to hearing it each year.

The service on December 28, celebrates the lives of celebrities who died this past year.    We have a jazz ensemble and vocalists to help celebrate deceased musicians.
